Visiting international artist John Hinton will run skills development workshop in circus for disabled performers. The day will include two workshops and will provide places for 20 emerging and professional disabled performers to gain skills in circus.
JOHN HINTON is a circus performer, actor, director and teacher from England, born and brought up in Sweden. He trained in physical theatre at the Jacques Lecoq school in Paris, and in circus at Pipsqueak in Sussex. His experience as a performing arts teacher for disabled people stretches back ten years, and includes work for Carousel in Brighton, Splats Entertainment in London, and numerous jobs as a freelancer. His speciality lies in inspiring people of all abilities to discover their inner creative strengths, and to increase confidence and motor-neuron skills through circus and theatre.

Creative Art Workshops for The Umbrella Event
All Workshops are presented by Kristen Messenger of That’s Not Garbage and IMPRO MUSO with creative input from Robert Stocks from Adelaide InterPlay and Andrew Hewitt.
Tuesday 4th March 11 to 2pm
11am until 2pm – All day Creative Workshops available.
Decorate large Market Umbrellas, their much smaller mini me versions or your own item of interest out of amazing piles of recycled materials from “That’s Not Garbage”. All items will be put on display in Victoria Square on the 7th of March.
11.15am until 12.15pm – IMPRO MUSO – Sound Scapes
Find your inner voice & release it in wonderful improvised cacophony of sound. Create on the spot a Capella, imaginative sound scapes – close your eyes and be transported away.
1pm until 2pm – IMPRO MUSO - Movement Workshop
Body and Soul Improvisation through movement. Restricted bodily movement is okay.
ENTERTAINMENT: by the Singing Magpies and Guitarist Kevin Jarvis
Dulcet tunes all day from DJ Dubarama in the HIGH BEAM COURTYARD
Lunch and refreshments may be purchased from 12 – 2pm at the bar

11am until 2pm – All day Creative Workshops available.

Learn about Rhythm and beat patterns whilst tackling a percussion instrument of your choice. Master this instrument to Improvise with the best of them. Expert tuition by drummer Andrew Hewitt.
12noon until 1pm – IMPRO MUSO – Sound Scapes
Find your inner voice & release it in wonderful improvised cacophony of sound. Create on the spot a Capella, imaginative sound scapes – close your eyes and be transported away.

Rhythmic and powerful blues influenced performance from nationally well known and respected artist Chris Finnen with his band.

Interactive body café, dine on body parts galore.

Independent living culture and employment with international speakers Simon Duffy (UK), Josette Bushell-Mingo (Sweden/UK) and other leading Adelaide thinkers. More info and details of speakers.

- Chanteuse Michelle Thredgold songs up a storm with highlights from “Blind Date” by the Tutti Ensemble.
