Back to Back Theatre
Back to Back Theatre is undoubtedly Australia's most unique theatre company. Based in Geelong, it has a full time ensemble of five actors who are perceived to have an intellectual disability. Back to Back makes new contemporary work from collaboration between its ensemble and the wider community of professional artists. The stories come out of the minds of the actors. Back to Back's art creates a view of the world not constrained by convention, logic or the imperative to be normal. The company acknowledges the individuals in the ensemble as original thinkers who function not in isolation but as unique and valuable contributors to the broader cultural and political debate.
