Bequests
Bequests are a simple yet incredibly powerful way to provide support for the causes that matter the most to you. They transfer your Will into one of the most potent tools for change there is, with little or no impact on your lifestyle today. Best of all, if you choose to include what is know as a residuary bequest in your Will, you'll have the peace of mind of knowing that your loved ones will be catered for without sacrificing your long-term support for Arts Access SA’s role in providing access to the arts for people with a disability.
Types of Bequests:
Residuary bequest
This is simply a gift of whatever is left of your estate (or a percentage thereof) after all your other gifts, taxes and debts have been fulfilled. As they are not specific amounts of money, this sort of bequest keeps its value regardless of inflation over the years. It means that the gift you include today is worth just as much when the time comes to put it to work to help continue improve access to the arts for South Australians with a disability.
Pecuniary bequest
This refers to leaving a gift of a set dollar amount determined by you at the time of drawing up or altering your Will.
Specific bequest
This is leaving a gift of an item of specific value to be passed on to Arts Access SA in order to generate funds. Suggested wording for a bequest to the Arts Access SA
We recommend that you seek advice from your solicitor when making or updating your Will.
Suggested wording for a simple bequest to Arts Access SA is as follows:
Residuary bequest
I give, devise and bequeath to Arts Access SA free from all duties, the following ______ percentage OR the remainder of my estate and direct that the receipt of the Executive Director for the time being will be a sufficient discharge to my trustees.
Pecuniary bequest
I give devise and bequeath to Arts Access SA free from all duties, the following $______ amount and direct that the receipt of the Executive Director for the time being will be a sufficient discharge to my trustees.
Specific bequest
I give, devise and bequeath to Arts Access SA free from all duties, the following ______ item/s and direct that the receipt of the Executive Director for the time being will be a sufficient discharge to my trustees.
